Diabetes and metabolic disorders

Diabetes does not develop overnight, but its consequences can be sudden and serious. At Garden Clinic, we provide both diagnosis and long-term care for patients with diabetes and metabolic disorders. We work in an interdisciplinary way: the diabetologist collaborates with a dietitian, physiotherapist, health psychologist, and doctors of other specialties.

The goal of treatment is not only to stabilize blood glucose levels. We help patients regain control over body weight, blood pressure, lipid profile, and lifestyle. The earlier treatment is introduced, the greater the chance of avoiding complications — cardiovascular, ophthalmological, renal, and neurological.

Diabetologist and treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes

At Garden Clinic, we diagnose and care for patients with type I and type II diabetes, as well as secondary diabetes, gestational diabetes, and prediabetes.

A diabetologist analyzes not only blood glucose levels, but also markers of insulin resistance, glycated hemoglobin, lipid profile, kidney and liver function, body weight, blood pressure, and the condition of the cardiovascular system. If necessary, the doctor refers the patient for further diagnostics, such as an oral glucose tolerance test, pancreatic function assessment, or hormonal tests.

We make sure that patients understand the treatment process and know how to manage everyday situations independently.

Treatment may include:

  • diabetes and dietary education
  • individually selected pharmacotherapy, including oral medications, insulin, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and SGLT2 inhibitors
  • regular blood glucose monitoring
  • planning physical activity with consideration of the patient’s health condition
  • assessment and treatment of complications, such as neuropathy, retinopathy, and nephropathy

Obesity treatment

Overweight and obesity are not only aesthetic concerns. They are major risk factors for type II diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, and sleep apnea.

At Garden Clinic, we provide obesity treatment based on a thorough analysis of the underlying causes and an individualized action plan. In obesity treatment, pace, consistency, and safety are essential. We help patients achieve lasting results — without the yo-yo effect and without pressure.

The diabetology and dietetics team supports patients in:

  • metabolic and hormonal assessment
  • setting realistic weight-loss goals
  • changing eating habits without extreme diets
  • selecting physical activity adapted to the patient’s health condition
  • pharmacotherapy in justified cases, such as GLP-1 analogues
  • psychological support in cases of eating disorders or compulsive eating

Treatment of metabolic syndromes

Metabolic syndrome is a group of interconnected disorders: abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, and increased blood glucose levels. Together, they significantly increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, and type II diabetes. Metabolic syndrome does not cause pain, but the consequences of neglecting it can be serious. That is why we take a comprehensive approach and do not postpone important decisions.

At Garden Clinic, we offer comprehensive care for people with metabolic syndrome, including:

  • full laboratory assessment, including blood glucose, lipid profile, insulin, CRP, ALT, and GGT
  • consultations with a diabetologist, endocrinologist, dietitian, and physiotherapist
  • an action plan combining pharmacological treatment with lifestyle modification
  • medical education and support in changing everyday habits
