Vascular surgery includes the assessment of limb-related symptoms such as pain, swelling, varicose veins, and circulation disorders, as well as qualification for surgical treatment whenever it is clinically justified.

At Garden Clinic in Gdańsk, we guide patients through a structured process: from diagnosis, most often based on Doppler ultrasound, through the selection of the appropriate treatment method, to follow-up and evaluation of results. Venous Diseases

We diagnose and treat conditions such as:

Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins of the lower limbs
Symptoms typical of venous insufficiency, including swelling, a feeling of heaviness, pain, and night cramps
Skin changes associated with venous disease, such as discoloration and venous eczema, after medical assessment
Qualification for minimally invasive treatment and follow-up after treatment, depending on indications

Arterial Diseases

We also provide care for patients with symptoms and conditions such as:

Symptoms suggesting limb ischemia, such as calf pain while walking, cold feet, or numbness
Diagnosis of arterial narrowing and assessment of its hemodynamic significance
Management of patients with peripheral atherosclerosis, according to the clinical picture and medical indications

Possible Venous Disease

Varicose veins or spider veins accompanied by symptoms
Swelling of the lower limbs, especially if it increases throughout the day
Pain, heaviness, burning, or night cramps
Recurring symptoms after previous varicose vein treatment

Possible Arterial Disease

You should also seek vascular assessment if you experience:

Calf pain while walking that improves after stopping, known as claudication
Cold feet, numbness, or reduced exercise tolerance
Wounds on the feet or lower legs that are difficult to heal, especially when accompanied by risk factors, as these require urgent assessment

The basic diagnostic examination in vascular surgery is Doppler ultrasound.

In venous diagnostics, Doppler ultrasound assesses vessel patency and valve function, including reflux.

In arterial diagnostics, it evaluates blood flow, narrowing, and their clinical significance.

The Doppler result helps guide the next decision: observation, conservative treatment, surgical treatment, or further diagnostics if the findings require it.

Conservative Management

When sufficient, or as part of a broader treatment plan, conservative management may include:

Compression therapy, including the selection of compression class and instructions for use
Symptomatic pharmacological treatment, if indicated
Recommendations regarding physical activity, reduction of risk factors, and prevention of complications

After qualification, and depending on the Doppler ultrasound findings and the extent of changes, patients may be eligible for less invasive methods. These include endovenous procedures for closing insufficient veins, such as laser treatment — LVT / EVLT — as well as other complementary techniques when medically justified.
